Community Spotlight: Colt of COLT Creations
At Boowan Nicole, we believe every mold tells a story. Behind each finished piece is a maker with a vision, a dream, and often, a heartfelt reason for creating. Today, we’re honored to share the journey of Colt, the inspiring young entrepreneur behind COLT Creations.
A Beginning Rooted in Love and Purpose
“My name’s Colt, and I run a small business called COLT Creations. I started pouring concrete matchstick houses in 2021 to sell to my neighbours on my driveway. I wanted to make money to donate to the Niagara SPCA, where I adopted my dog, Titan.”
What began as a driveway project soon grew into something much bigger. In 2022, Colt officially launched COLT Creations, expanding into Jesmonite and concrete products, with a promise to donate a portion of every sale to the Niagara SPCA. “Every March I make my annual donation because it’s the anniversary month of adopting Titan.”
So far, Colt has raised $1,300 for the SPCA—a tangible reminder that creativity can spark real change.
The Role of Boowan Nicole in the Journey
“One of my very first molds was from Boowan Nicole, and I’ve been hooked ever since. The quality is amazing—I still use those first molds years later, and they’re just as good as the day I got them.”
Over the years, Colt has collected more Boowan Nicole molds than he can count, each one supporting his growth as a maker. “I’ve always admired the professionalism of the brand and love keeping up with their new reels and product launches. Their creativity inspires me in my own work and has definitely pushed me to keep growing as a maker.”
For us, hearing this means everything—because our molds are designed not just to last, but to help makers dream bigger.
Inspiration, Achievements, and Challenges
Colt’s creativity is fueled by curiosity and community. “I love brainstorming new ideas, and sometimes my awesome customers send me fun ones—like the skeleton in the bath! A lot of inspiration also comes while I’m playing with my dogs, which is probably why I have so many animal-themed concrete planters.”
In 2023, Colt received a Canada-wide Youth Entrepreneur Grant, which he proudly used to invest in materials and take his creations to local markets. “That’s what really helped me take COLT Creations to the next level.”
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without hurdles. “Growing an authentic following on Instagram” has been his biggest challenge. But even so, his passion never wavers: “Nope! I love what I do too much to even think about quitting.”
A Message from Colt
When asked what message he wants to share, Colt’s answer was simple yet profound:
“Give back when you can, and follow your dreams. I did—and now I’m living mine.”
